About the Opportunity

OKX is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Director, Head of LACC, to lead audit operations across Latin America and the Caribbean. This pivotal role ensures compliance, risk mitigation, and operational excellence within a rapidly evolving digital asset environment. As the third line of defense, you’ll play a central role in shaping audit strategy, governance frameworks, and regulatory alignment for the region.

Reporting directly to the Head of Local Markets, Finance, and Operations, you’ll oversee the full lifecycle of internal audits — from risk assessment and planning to execution and reporting. Based in Brazil, this position requires deep familiarity with local regulatory bodies such as Brazil’s Central Bank (BACEN), Argentina’s Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV), the Bahamas Securities Commission, and El Salvador’s Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales (CNAD).

Key Responsibilities

Develop Regional Audit Strategy

Design and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan tailored to the Latin America and Caribbean (LACC) region. Align audit priorities with corporate objectives, regulatory mandates, and emerging risks in the digital asset space.

Lead Risk-Based Audit Execution

Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify critical vulnerabilities across operations, compliance, cybersecurity, and financial controls. Prioritize audits based on materiality and regulatory exposure, ensuring efficient resource allocation.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance

Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to map internal audit activities against local licensing requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations affecting cryptocurrency exchanges in each LACC jurisdiction.

Deliver High-Impact Audit Reports

Prepare detailed reports that clearly articulate findings, root causes, and actionable recommendations for senior management and board-level stakeholders. Communicate complex issues with clarity and strategic insight.

Drive Remediation and Follow-Up

Monitor progress on audit recommendations, working closely with regional management to ensure timely resolution of control gaps. Establish tracking mechanisms to verify sustained improvements.

Strengthen Internal Controls

Lead continuous improvement initiatives for governance and control frameworks. Share best practices across teams and promote a culture of accountability and proactive risk management.

Stay Ahead of Industry Trends

Maintain expertise in blockchain technology, crypto exchange operations, decentralized finance (DeFi), and cybersecurity threats. Adapt audit methodologies to address innovations and threats in real time.

Support External Audits and Regulatory Inquiries

Act as a key liaison during external audits and regulatory examinations. Provide documentation, insights, and coordination to ensure smooth processes and positive outcomes.

Mentor Audit Talent

Provide coaching and professional development guidance to auditors within the LACC team. Build a high-performing function capable of scaling with OKX’s regional growth.

Advise Regional Leadership

Serve as a trusted advisor to executive teams across LACC markets. Offer strategic insights on financial integrity, compliance challenges, and emerging risks tied to digital assets.
